A mother saw her 4-year-old daughter playing with her ball near the corner of her yard that intersected with a semi-busy main road. She yelled for her daughter to come back closer to the house. But when her mother’s voice startled her, she misstepped kicking her beach ball. It rolled into the street, and off went the little girl after it, carelessly running into the street to retrieve her favorite toy.
The deathly scream of her mother viewing this sight was met by several car horns and the smell of burning tire rubber as vehicles came to a screeching halt. The UPS truck obstructed the mother’s view of her daughter’s whereabouts, so the mother dashed to the scene.
As the mother ran frantically towards her daughter, several people had already gotten out of their cars to see what happened to the little girl. One woman yelled, “It’s a miracle! That little girl floated into the field on the other side of the road!”
We have all heard of strange but positive outcomes to would-be tragic situations, noting that something supernatural had to have intervened. The majority of us believe in the existence of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and we know how to be in relationship with them, but most of us aren’t well advised on our permissible interactions with angelic beings.
I promise not to go off the deep end here. Concerning angels, or any other subject for that matter, I only believe what the holy Scriptures can corroborate anyway.
Speaking of promises, it’s revealed in the Psalms that God sent His angels to protect us, much like what happened to the little girl I mentioned earlier. “For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.” (Psalm 91:11, KJV) Isn’t it comforting to know that if our home alarm system, airbags or other safety conveniences become faulty, we can rest in knowing that God provides protection for those who trust Him?
Here’s a loaded question: Do angels take the form of humans and walk among us, without us knowing their true identity? Again, I won’t assume, but will rely on the truth in God’s Word for the answer to this debatable topic. “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Hebrews 13:2, KJV)
Yes, angels are here on the Earth among us, protecting us and performing other works for God. Why then don’t they reveal themselves to us?
`Because angels know that they aren’t the big deal. God is. Angels are not praise seekers. They only want to please the Father, God Almighty, and they only want Him to get the credit, honor and glory for every done deed.
