Your Season of Blessings

by Shane Wall

I’ve been preaching a sermon series at our church that has blessed so many people, and I want to share a part of message with you now. ‭‭This lesson reveals how to get everything God has ever promised you.

“So when they were assembled, they asked Him, Lord, is this the time when You will reestablish the kingdom and restore it to Israel? He said to them, It is not for you to become acquainted with and know what time brings [the things and events of time and their definite periods] or fixed years and seasons (their critical niche in time), which the Father has appointed (fixed and reserved) by His own choice and authority and personal power.” (Acts 1:6&7, AMP)

Have you ever known in your heart that God had a blessing for you, but wondered why you didn’t receive it, even after you asked Him for it? One of the main reasons we don’t receive our desired answer is because we ask God for certain items...when they’re not in season.

Who created seasons? God did. Who controls seasons? Again, God does, as we observe in the above scripture. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 declares that everything has a season. Nothing remains forever, whether good or bad. It pass.

I can hardly wait for our first child, Joshua Elisha, to be born, but there is a predetermined season for his birth. I would be nuts to ask God to give “Josh E” to me now. God creates, initiates, controls and even blesses us in seasons.

In mid-January, a dear brother of mine was in a restaurant in New York and ordered an item from the menu that said, “Fruit Melody (in season).” The waitress smiled and said, “I know you’re thinking that we add seasoning to our Fruit Melody, but that actually means that we only serve that delectable during the season that fruit is naturally grown.” How often do we ask God for fruit that He didn’t produce in the current season of our asking.

“Timing is everything.”

We’ve heard that, and it couldn’t be more befitting to what I’m sharing. In the scripture I shared earlier, the disciples asked Jesus if He was going to restore the kingdom from the Roman rule back to Israel at that very moment in time. Our Lord told them that only God the Father controls times and seasons.

Now that we’re focused on the awesome sovereignty of God, that He is in full control of everything, even the seasons of our blessings, there should be a strong boost of our faith and dependence on Him. Because God commands our answered prayers to be delivered to us by a season, and we’re fully aware that He controls those seasons, we should now have our hearts resting in His faithful love and care, and all our anxieties dismissed from our thoughts.

Why is it that we don’t want to wait on the seasons, that God designed to produce what we desire, when we often force Him to wait on receiving from us what He desires: ceasing sin and being a faithful witness for Him? A one-sided relationship is always a poor one. If we want to know God better, we need to be more like Him by producing whatever He requires in every season of our lives. Remember, whatever we sow, we will reap.

We will thoroughly enjoy our relationship with God if we’re willing to wait for the seasons of blessings that He sends.
